Orexin A (10–300 nM) strongly excited dorsal raphe serotonergic neurons maintained in
vitro. The depolarization persisted in the presence of tetrodotoxin (TTX, 0.5 μM) and was
associated with an increase in input resistance. These results have relevance in the context
of food intake regulation and the disease, narcolepsy.
